Professor Oleg Peresypkin - Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation
In the beginning of 2008 the Moscow Friends’ Club was established with Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov in charge.
The club has so far elaborated several programs, realization of which could help residents of Moscow and its friends familiarize themselves with the capital's history, its famous people of the past as well as contemporaries. Special attention is also paid to Moscow's international ties, which have been improving recently. And now being an expert of the Arabic region, I am seeking possible ways of developing co-operation with similar organizations in Jordan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and other countries. I decided to begin with Jordan, taking into consideration Mayor Luzhkov's personal friendly relations with King Abdullah the Second.
The King promised to allot a piece of land for a new health on the Dead Sea shore side. The Moscow Mayor in his turn promised to give 1.5 thousand young plants for the Moscow Park in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

“Mr.Sarkisov said: “The role of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in supporting the dialogue of civilizations, strengthening the idea of culture, tolerance and peace deserves a high estimate of the world community”.

His Excellency President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Vice President Abd Rabu Mansur Hadi received yesterday the Russian delegation of Moscow Friends’ Club headed by its Chairman of the Board Igor Sarkisov.
In the course of reception of the delegation the solemn ceremony of awarding His Excellency the President with the Order “For respect to the nation”, which is the highest Russian public award, took place. The President was awarded in recognition of his tremendous efforts in the sphere of politics on the national, regional and world arena as well as for his efforts in the humanitarian sphere and in the struggle for world peace.
During the ceremony the head of the delegation Igor Sarkisov said that the delegation represents the Moscow Friends’ Club, the Supreme Council of which includes many leaders of Russia.
Then, addressing the President he said that in January 2008, the decision was made to award the president with the Order “For respect to the nation”. We award with this high Order presidents and leaders who demonstrated their outstanding role in the history of their people and history of mankind. He added that his great achievements for the sake of his people led the country to the position when it became a regional superpower playing an effective positive role in the Arab world, among the Muslim community and on the international arena.
We all recognize your outstanding role in the Islamic world, among the world community. Members of other religion currents appreciate your efforts directed to the support of the dialogue of religions, civilizations and the formation of ideas of tolerance and peace. All people of the world, including the people of Russia, support and approve your efforts.
He went on saying: “Yemen and Russia are linked with relations of traditional friendship, which have 80-year history. This year, in November we will celebrate this landmark date in the history of Yemeni-Russian relations.
We are happy that the Republic of Yemen has such a president, as Your Excellency, who made it possible for his country to achieve such a progress”.
His Excellency the President expressed gratitude for the honor and the award. Talking about Yemeni-Russian relations, he said that these relations are relations of traditional friendship and cooperation and he intends to develop them in the interests of Yemeni and Russian peoples.
He appreciated the attention of the political leadership of Russia to the needs of Muslims and added that soon he will visit Russia in the framework of ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen bilateral Yemeni-Russian relations.
The ceremony was attended by Vice-Premier Dr.Rishad al-Alimi, in charge of defense and security issues, Yemeni Ambassador in the Russian federation Mohamed Saleh Ahmed al-Helali and Vice President of Yemen–Russia Friendship Society Ali Mohammed Hashim.
